To know how to put a background image in Instagram Stories the first thing you must do is to have in the gallery of your phone that background image. Download it from the internet or create it with an editing program like PicsArt. Then open Instagram on your mobile. And swipe on the screen from left to right to put the Story.
Now click on the left button to load the background image you want. Now let’s put the pasted photo on top. If you have an iOS device exit Instagram and go to your phone’s gallery. Press and hold the image you are going to put on top of the Storie background. Choose “Copy” from the options that appear.
Go back to Instagram and in the Story, you will see a warning where it says “add Sticker”. The image will be pasted in the story and you can publish it.

Open Instagram on your Android device and swipe to the left to prepare the Story. Then tap on the icon at the bottom left to set the background image. Then tap on the sticker icon at the top of the screen and open the circle with the camera icon inside.
This will open the gallery to paste the photo. Choose it and then place it on the background of the Storie. All you have to do is publish it to finish the process.
How to put a gradient background in Instagram stories

Now you will see a screen with a gradient color. Click on the circle at the top to see the different gradients that come by default.
When you have the one you like the most, without typing anything, click on the down arrow icon at the top. The gradient will be saved in your gallery. Click on the cross on the left side and discard these stories.
Now click on the square icon at the bottom of the screen and load the gradient image from your gallery. Then paste the images you want. You will now have the gradient background color.
