However, you’ve learned about the possibility of upgrading your Twitch account so that you can access several new features, including the ability to support your favorite streamers.
Since Twitch is owned by Amazon and you’ve subscribed to Prime on the latter, you’d like to know if there is a possibility to take advantage of it on this platform as well. Things are just like that, aren’t they? Then you’ll be happy to know that you’ve landed in the right guide at the right time! In the next chapters, in fact, I’ll provide you with all the information you need to know how to subscribe to Twitch with Amazon Prime.
Not only will I explain all the benefits you’ll get with this Twitch subscription, but also the steps you need to take to link it to your Amazon account. All that’s left is for me to wish you a good read and, most importantly, a lot of fun!
What is Twitch Prime
Twitch Prime (now renamed to Prime Gaming) is a subscription service for Twitch that allows you to unlock additional features on your account on this platform. you can subscribe through Amazon Prime or Prime Video.
In fact, Amazon Prime account holders, with the annual fee they already pay, can get Twitch Prime at no additional cost. All you have to do is simply link your Amazon account to your Twitch account and you’re done. I’ll talk to you in detail about the procedure to perform this operation in the next chapter.
However, before we get into the heart of this guide of mine, I want to explain to you what are the benefits of subscribing. Owning a Twitch Prime account grants you access to exclusive content and the ability to customize your chat:
- You can unlock free games and digital video game content.
- You can make a one-month subscription to a Twitch channel for free (I’ll tell you more about it in a dedicated chapter of this tutorial).
- You can get exclusive emoticons and extended chat coloring.
- Activate a crest that identifies you as a Twitch Prime user.
- Extend the save limit of past broadcasts on Twitch to 60 days.
Now that you’re clear on what Twitch Prime is, it’s time to show you how to link an Amazon Prime account to Twitch and get all the benefits I’ve listed – you’ll find everything you want to know right below. Happy reading!
How to subscribe to Twitch with Amazon Prime
The first thing you need to do to get Twitch Prime with Amazon Prime is to make sure you have the subscription active on your Amazon account.
First of all, if you don’t have an Amazon account yet, you can create one via the official website of this popular e-commerce platform. After viewing Amazon’s homepage, place your mouse on the Accounts and Lists heading, which you find in the top right corner, and click on the Start Here heading, which you find in the box that is shown to you.
At this point, you’ll be directed to an Amazon account registration form: what you need to do is to indicate your name, your email and a password to associate with the account you’re about to create. When you’re done, simply press the Create Your Amazon Account button. If you want more information on this procedure, I recommend reading my guide on how to sign up for Amazon.
Once you’ve done that, after logging into the Amazon website with the account you’ve just created, sign up for Prime by pressing the Subscribe to Prime button, located in the top right corner, and following a procedure that will require you to enter a valid payment method to activate your subscription.
Please note that you will not be charged any cost initially, as the service is free for the first 30 days: after these, you will pay for 12 months of subscription.
If you encounter any difficulty in the activation process of Amazon Prime, what I suggest you do is read carefully what I have shown in my guide on how to sign up for Amazon Prime, in which I explained step by step how to act both from PC and other platforms, through the Amazon app for smartphones and tablets, as well as explain how to deactivate this subscription, in case you do not want to renew it.
Now that you have an Amazon Prime account, it’s time to activate Twitch Prime by connecting the two accounts. First of all, go to this Amazon website dedicated to connecting the two platforms.
After that, click on the Sign In button, which you can find in the top right corner, and press the Continue in Italy button. Now, log in with your Amazon account to access the platform. In the left sidebar, then click on the Connect Twitch Account item and press the Connect Account button, in the box that is shown to you.
In the new screen that appears, sign in with your Twitch account and then press the Confirm button, to allow sharing your Twitch data with Amazon and thus allow linking the two services.
Good: you don’t have to do anything else. If you’ve followed all the procedures I’ve indicated throughout this chapter to the letter, you’ll have successfully associated your Amazon account with Twitch and, if your Amazon Prime subscription is active, so will your Twitch Prime subscription.
You can verify what I just said by going to the Twitch website and clicking on your profile picture in the top right corner. With that done, choose the Settings item from the pane that is shown to you and then click on the Links tab.
A screen will open with a list of all the accounts connected to Twitch, which should include Amazon’s account.
In case you no longer want to access the benefits of Twitch Prime, you simply have to disconnect the Amazon account by pressing the Disconnect button.
Instead, by selecting the Twitch Prime tab, you’ll have access to chat customization: one of the benefits of the Prime subscription, which I told you about in the previous chapter of this guide.
How to subscribe to a Twitch channel with Amazon Prime
As I mentioned earlier, one of the benefits of Twitch Prime is that you can subscribe to a Twitch channel completely free of charge.
After you’ve linked Amazon Prime to your Twitch account and then unlocked Twitch Prime, thanks to the procedures I mentioned in the previous chapter, you can subscribe to a channel. How? I’ll explain it right now!
First of all, make sure that this Twitch Prime benefit is available in your account: after logging in with your account on the Twitch website, click on your profile picture, located in the upper right corner, and click on the Subscriptions item in the menu that opens.
In the screen you are directed to, you can easily manage your subscriptions. Under the tab Your subscriptions, you should find a box indicating the words Free channel subscription with Twitch Prime: if the latter is present, it means that you can subscribe to a Twitch channel for free thanks to Prime.
Please note that the subscription is only valid for one month and you can only re-subscribe for free every 30 days. This means that you can’t subscribe for free to multiple Twitch channels at once, but only to one.
That being said, reach the Twitch channel of the streamer you follow, helping with the list shown in the left sidebar. If you can’t find it, simply click on the Show More tab.
After reaching the profile of the streamer you’re interested in, press the Subscribe button, located at the top right of the channel screen, in order to access the panel related to subscriptions.
There are several levels to subscribe to, at varying costs. If, however, you want to take advantage of the free subscription that you have available with Prime, press the Subscribe at no additional cost button, which is located at the base level, and that’s it.
The subscription will be active immediately and will last for 31 days, at the end of which it will cease unless you decide to make the paid extension or perform a new free subscription manually.
You can also subscribe to a channel via the Twitch app for Android or iOS smartphones and tablets, following the same steps I described in the previous paragraphs.
