Instagram is one of the most used applications by users who like to see photos of their friends or even their favorite celebrities. Everyone uploads the content they like, likes other users’ content, comments on it and if it’s really good they can even save it in their personal file.
But there are some who look for a way to share the content of others on their account to give it more diffusion. For this reason we are going to teach you how to make a repost on Instagram.
Repost on Instagram, a function brought from Twitter
All Internet users know that the different applications they use throughout the day have some features taken from a rival app.
Right now, TikTok is a rival to follow and many social networks have a short video section with a very similar format. In fact, users of the Chinese application do not hesitate to share the content they upload to this social network on other sites.
But in the case of those who use Instagram there is a function that you still can’t use unless you have some app. We are talking about the repost on Instagram, a feature that is very reminiscent of Twitter retweets. In fact, its operation is exactly the same, since it consists of sharing someone else’s content on your profile.
The Facebook app lacks native functions for this, at least in the post part, but there is a way to do it and we are going to show it to you below.
How to make a repost in Instagram Stories
As we were saying, Instagram lets you make repost, but only in the Stories part. This feature of the social network allows you to share content only for 24 hours, so it will disappear after this time from your profile.
Here we have two ways to share this type of content: either by sharing a story or a post from another user.
The first one is simple since once you are tagged in a story you will be notified and, at the bottom you will see a message that says “share this story on your profile”. Just click on the button and you will enter the Stories editing menu. Make the changes you want, but the photo will appear with the author’s profile that anyone can see unless it is set to private.
The second is also very simple, but it’s in a place you wouldn’t expect. And is that to repost a publication on Instagram you can do it through the Direct icon. We’re talking about the one that has the shape of a paper airplane, located on the left side, below the photo and next to the Like and Comments button.
From here you can click on the option to share in your story. You will enter the editing section of the Stories and the name of the original creator will always appear.
Apps to repost on Instagram
Maybe having the option to share a video or photo in the ephemeral content section isn’t what you’re looking for and instead you want to always show it on your profile. For that Instagram doesn’t have a built-in feature as such, but there are apps for making repost on Instagram.
One of the names is Repost for Instagram, which is available for both iOS or Android users. This one will let you copy the link of a user’s post to extract it so that you can put it on your profile. The author’s name will appear in one of the corners, so it will always be identified as the content has another creator.
You can also use a website called Repostapp, which is very easy to use and is also free. Being in a browser you can use it from your PC and repost on Instagram from your desktop.
The other option is the simplest and is to take a screenshot and name the author of the image in the comments. Of course, and this is very important, if you want your repost on Instagram to be kept, you must ask the author for permission to do so or else you may be asked to delete it.
