When enabled Hide Offensive Comments Instagram itself detects inappropriate comments and automatically blocks them before they reach you, based on an Ai-compatible network tool. The ban is not limited to comments on posts only, it also blocks unwanted comments in your direct broadcast and replies to the story.
This may not be effective, as there may be other offensive comments in your local language that Instagram doesn’t detect, or there are some loopholes that insulters turn to. But since the network behind machine learning is built around user-defined abusive comments, it’s sure to improve over time. Additionally, Instagram includes the ability to manually filter offensive comments by typing in the words and phrases yourself to automatically block them, meaning that when someone puts a phrase in the comment that includes one of the banned words, that comment will be automatically blocked.
