One of the activities most appreciated by GTA Online players is surely the races. It isn’t just a matter of the money you can earn, since pure fun also comes into play. On the other hand, the Rockstar title provides you with a myriad of different vehicles and challenging other players in improbable tracks can bring more than a few smiles.
You’ve seen some videos on the Web and you’ve noticed that it’s true: carrying out this type of activity can be a lot of fun. So you are also approaching the various challenges proposed, but you haven’t quite figured out how to search for races in GTA Online. So you’ve come here looking for more information on the subject. That’s how it is, isn’t it? Then don’t worry, you’ve come to the right place!
In this tutorial I’ll analyze the topic as a whole, showing you what types of races exist and explaining how to “reach” the most valuable ones. What do you think? Are you ready to proceed? Very well, here below you can find all the indications of the case. There’s nothing left for me to do but wish you a good reading and have fun!
Preliminary information
Before going into detail about the procedure on how to search for races in GTA Online, I think you might be interested in learning more about this possibility.
Well, you should know that the online mode of GTA 5 allows you to play different types of races: those created directly by Rockstar and those created by fans. The first ones, in general, represent fun and quality activities, while for the second ones you have to go a bit by luck.
Despite this, as is the case with any self-respecting video game, among the many races created by the community there are also some “pearls”. In addition, fans can also keep a title “alive” long after its publication, just think of the huge world of mods that revolves around video games like Minecraft and Fallout 4, just to name two.
GTA Online, however, takes in some ways away from the world of mods, since it is a title in which you play constantly in contact with other players and therefore the use of content created by the community could potentially create some “headaches”. As I explained in my guide dedicated to how to drift in GTA, if you really want to use mods, you should consider only the Story mode.
Despite this, Rockstar has been very clever over the years to add official content and implement properly those made by the community. After all, GTA 5 came out back in 2013, but GTA Online is still on the crest of a wave. The reason is surely to be found in the large amount of content available.
GTA Online is therefore a virtuous example for the video game industry, which demonstrates how it is possible to create a quality online game that can “accompany” players for many years, keeping up with the times and without letting “go” too much in terms of content made by the community.
Speaking of the amount of content, the races that you can do on GTA Online are of the most disparate: ranging from races on two wheels to water races, through those land, those stunt and so on and so forth. In short, the variety in terms of gameplay is assured.
In any case, I remind you that to access GTA 5’s online mode you need an Internet connection and, in the case of consoles, an active subscription to play online. In fact, on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 you must have PlayStation Plus, while on the Xbox platform you must have an Xbox Live Gold subscription.
How to search for races in GTA Online
After having explained the general situation, I’d say it’s time to actually explain how to find the races of your interest in GTA Online. In case you’re wondering, the instructions in this chapter are valid for all platforms for which the Rockstar title was released. Simply put, if you plan to learn, for example, how to look for races on GTA 5 Online for PS4, this is the part of the guide for you.
To find and take a look at the available races made directly by Rockstar, once you’re in GTA Online, just go to the settings, move to the ONLINE tab and follow the path Activities > Start Activities > Created by Rockstar, then choose between the option Races and Stunt Races.
Doing so will bring up a list of available activities on the screen. From here you’ll be able to browse through the various official races created by Rockstar, as well as get various information about each of them (you’ll also find a rating related to the quality of the race, provided by fans). In any case, if you are interested in this type of activity
You might have noticed that within the game there isn’t a “classic” search feature: it isn’t possible to type the name of a race to find it quickly. Unfortunately this is a lack in GTA Online. However, since in reality there are not too many official activities created by Rockstar, by following the tutorial that I proposed earlier and the various directions you should have no problem finding what you need.
The discourse is instead a bit more complex with regard to the activities created by fans. In fact, as you can guess, in this case the number of available races is disproportionate and therefore it may not be exactly simple, if not almost impossible, to find a certain activity in-game.
This is where Rockstar’s Social Club comes into play. In fact, you just need to connect to the official portal through your browser and eventually enter your date of birth to be able to access the “coveted” search bar, which appears at the top.
By clicking on the three lines icon in the upper right corner, you can select the filters to be used for the search, choosing between type of activity, platform, number of players, type of content (whether created by Rockstar or not), and publication date. You can also choose to sort the activities by popularity, number of games, and date.
In any case, once you find the race that suits you, just click on the activity box, take a look at the rating and comments left by other users and press the Add activity to favorites button. You will be asked to log in to your Social Club account: just press the Sign In button, type your email address and password and press the Sign In button. Please note that you can also sign in with PSN, Xbox Live, Facebook, Google, and Twitter accounts.
After that, press the Add Activity to Favorites button again and press the Ok button. If you already have GTA Online active, you will have to restart the game for the race you have chosen to be available.
In any case, once you are in GTA Online, just open the settings, go to the ONLINE tab, follow the path Activities > Start Activity and select the option Favorites (choosing between Races and Stunt Races). Here you will find all the races you have added through the official Social Club portal and you can start them quickly.
In short, even though there isn’t a true race search option integrated within the Rockstar title, it is still possible to find all the relevant activities just by going through the browser. By the way, in case you usually play from a console and don’t want to use another device, I remind you that both PlayStation and Xbox have a built-in browser.
You will surely have noticed the fact that on the Rockstar portal there is a subdivision by platform regarding the various races available. Therefore, be careful to choose an activity compatible with the platform from which you usually play, so you won’t have too many problems.
In short, the use of filters is important, but the developers have thought of everything, so you shouldn’t have any particular problems in finding what suits you best.
How to create races on GTA Online
Excuse me? Now that you have understood, through the previous chapter, how to find specific races, are you going to make an activity of your own? No problem, I’ll quickly explain everything you need to know!
In this case, you’ll have to go through Rockstar’s editor. Don’t worry: this is a tool implemented directly within GTA Online, which by the way doesn’t require any programming skills.
You can find the editor by opening the game settings, going to the ONLINE tab and pressing first on the Creator option and then on the Ok option. In any case, this tool allows you to “give life” to various activities. To achieve your objective, you simply need to press on the Create a race item and follow the directions that appear on the screen.
