If you are going to spend a few days of vacation abroad and want to continue listening to your favorite songs, you may have wondered how to change the country or region in Spotify. Whether you need to do it or not will depend on whether you have a Premium account or a free account, since the possibility of using the tool abroad depends on it.
In case you have a Premium account you will not need to touch your account settings. On the other hand, if you have a free account, you will only be able to use it in another territory for 14 days.
In case you are going to be more than 14 days in another country you will have to change the configuration of your free account following these steps:
- Log in to your account page
- Click on Edit Profile
- Scroll down to find Country or region
- From the drop-down list, select the new location where you are located
- Click Save Profile
Why Spotify Won’t Let Me Switch Country
If you’ve had any problems with this process you may be wondering why Spotify won’t let me change country. Unless it’s a bug in the application, it’s most likely because you have a Premium account.
When you have a Premium account, the only way you can change the country in which you are using it is to change your payment method.
To do this, you will need to log in to your account page and in the Your plan section, next to Payment method, click on the Update button. There you will be able to change the payment method to one that is issued in the country you want to switch to.
In case Spotify doesn’t let you change country if you have a free account, make sure you created your account from a Facebook or Apple account. If this is the case, you will also have to change the country of origin on Facebook or Apple for the change to take effect in Spotify. Once you have done this, you will be able to proceed with the change without any further problems.
