The Internet is a place where every now and then different types of challenges, Tiktok, go viral on different platforms, usually driven by the most famous influencers on them.
Currently, it was TikTok’s turn with the new Flying Challenge, which has become very popular among users who actively upload videos within this social network. Although editing these videos seems complicated, the truth is that it is not, and today we will show you how to do it.
What should be taken into account to create the ‘Flying’ effect and make the Flying Challenge in TikTok?
TikTok is a platform where you can make videos with an average duration of one minute and also interact with other users through messages. It is common that challenges are popularized within the application thanks to the ‘Hashtags’.
The Flying Challenge consists of the person creating a video in which it looks like they are flying, all thanks to the magic of editing.
You may be thinking that editing this kind of videos is a bit complicated, but the truth is that you just need some patience, time and a video editing app that you can find for free in the App Store and Play Store.

Record a video jumping
To be able to do the Flying Challenge in TikTok, first you have to record a video of yourself making small jumps without moving forward or backward, in which you must make the movement that some small birds make when they fly.
After you finish the first jump, you move a little forward and repeat the same jump with the same movement, making sure that you keep the same height as in the previous jump. Then repeat this procedure until you cover the necessary distance.
How to edit the video already made to create the flying effect in TikTok?
Once you have the video with the jumps saved on your cell phone, you only have to edit it using the InShot application. You just have to open the App and select the video to be able to edit it.
Remove the volume of the whole video
Removing the volume of the video will be a fundamental part to be able to do the Flying Challenge well, since by eliminating the sound of the original video you will be eliminating all the sound incongruities that will be present when you make the cuts of the video. You can use a special program to remove the sound from your videos, or if you prefer you can use the InShot tools.
In order to remove the sound from your InShot videos you just have to press the video ribbon in the editor and this will open an option box where you can set the volume of the original video to the point of muting it completely.
Making cuts at every jump
This is now when things start to get interesting, as we need to remove the parts in the middle of each jump. Yes, the parts where we don’t touch the ground.
As we mentioned before, you need to cut the fragments that are between the jumps, as this is how the ‘Flying’ effect will be created, leaving only the parts where you are in the air simulating that you are flying.
You need to divide the video into fragments with the editing options offered by the application. Just follow these simple steps:
- Select the video you want to edit in the application.
- Slide the video ribbon and place the indicator on the part where you are about to start descending to the ground after the first jump.
- Slide the list of options at the top of the video ribbon to the left and select the ‘Split’ option.
- Slide the video tape again and this time place the indicator on the part where you have already made a new jump.
- Touch the ‘Split’ option again.
- Once this is done, a fragmentation will be created on the video tape. This fragment, which includes the moment when you start to go down until after you have jumped again, is the one we are interested in deleting.
In order to delete this fragment of the video we will only have to touch it and select the option ‘Delete’ that is on the right side of the ‘Split’ option. This procedure will have to be done with each of the fragments between the jumps.
Delete the rest of the video where there were no jumps and save.
Once you have created the ‘Flying’ effect, you will need to delete the parts of the video where there were no jumps. To do this we will also make use of the ‘Split’ option, since if we use the ‘Previous Cut’ option we will only be able to cut out the remaining fractions of the video.
To delete the rest of the video we place the indicator at the end of the part we want to delete and split it. Then we select the resulting fragment and delete it.
To do it at the end of the video the only difference will be that you will have to create that fragment placing the indicator at the beginning and at the end of the part of the video you want to delete.
