How to improve on Call of Duty Mobile – Tips, Tricks & Hacks

The dream of many fans of the popular Call of Duty first-person shooter series came true in 2019, when Activision decided to release COD Mobile, a free downloadable mobile title. Simply put, Call of Duty can now be played safely on mobile and potentially without spending a dime.

It’s no coincidence, then, that the game has been very successful: as of May 2021, the number of registered players was over 500 million. In short, I understand why you decided to approach this production as well. However, now you’re trying to figure out how to improve on Call of Duty Mobile, as you’ve noticed that there are many good players online that you can’t beat, right?

Then don’t worry: in this guide I’ll give you a hand in achieving your goal by taking a look at what you can do to play COD Mobile in a more “conscious” way. If you’re ready, all you have to do is follow the quick instructions below and put them into practice. There’s nothing left for me to do but wish you a good read and enjoy!

Preliminary Information

Before going into detail about the procedure on how to improve on Call of Duty Mobile, I think you might be interested in learning more about this possibility.

Well, Call of Duty Mobile, originally released in late 2019 on the Android Play Store and the iPhone and iPad App Store is a free title that includes various modes.

In fact, contrary to what you might think, COD Mobile is not a “miniature” COD Warzone. Simply put, it is not simply a classic Battle Royale, as you can also play classic modes and “inspired” by popular chapters of the series (who said Zombie?).

Obviously, Call of Duty Mobile is a title in constant evolution, so the available modes might be different depending on the period in which you decided to approach the game. In any case, the Activision title provides the user with a certain amount of choice, thus offering a good variety in terms of gameplay.

In addition to this, as I explained in my guide related to the best Battle Royale, the mode of the game that pits 100 players against each other in the same map often presents differences from what we’ve seen in the more classic Battle Royale titles.

For example, at certain times it was possible to challenge, directly within a game (so with the risk that other players intervene), a boss represented by a large butcher. In short, COD Mobile offers a different experience than the other titles in the Call of Duty series.

This doesn’t mean, however, that if you are a long-time fan you won’t find bread for your teeth. In fact, between classic modes such as 5v5 battles and characters and maps taken from the “traditional” chapters, there is also a sort of “nostalgia factor” that will surely catch your attention.

But now let’s get down to business and go to study the game mechanics that will allow you to improve within the title. Good luck!

How to improve on Call of Duty Mobile

After having explained to you the general operation of Call of Duty Mobile, I’d say it’s time to take action and show you some tips that could be useful to improve your performance in the Activision title.

Select the correct shooting mode

Capture2 16

One of the main mechanics in which COD Mobile differs from the “traditional” chapters of the Activision series is clearly the input method.

In fact, clearly touch controls can be a “hurdle” for a certain type of player. For this reason, the developers have decided to implement a potential help: the automatic fire mode.

Simply put, if you choose to use the latter, your character will shoot by itself when you manage to aim at an enemy. This is a widespread feature among mobile video games of this type. However, this firing mode is actually not very well seen by the most skilled players.

In fact, the automatic firing mode can definitely be useful if you’re a beginner or if you want a more casual gameplay, but if you want to aim properly, don’t waste shots and really put your skills to use, you should aim to use the manual firing mode.

The latter in fact adds a button to shoot, giving you the ability to freely choose when to use your shots. By the way, the manual mode is the one preferred by users who have a gaming smartphone with dorsal triggers. In fact, this type of device lets you associate triggers with the virtual keys to aim and shoot.

Among other things, there are various types of triggers. For example, gaming smartphones such as Black Shark 4 have physical triggers, i.e. buttons that “emerge” from the body and provide feedback similar to that of controllers. Devices such as RedMagic 5S, on the other hand, have buttons that can be called “soft-touch”, so they return a different response. Clearly, the models mentioned are just examples, but there are also other models on the market (even more famous).

For the rest, I remind you that COD Mobile officially supports the PlayStation 4 DualShock 4 controller and the official Xbox One pad. For more details about this possibility, which you might also consider to improve your aim, you can refer to the official Activision portal.

In short, don’t underestimate the available input methods and the Fire Mode setting. To change the fire mode, you just need to start the game, click on the gear icon in the upper right corner, select the COMMANDS tab, click on MG Mode and choose between Simple and Advanced modes. By the way, I recommend that you also press on the CUSTOMIZED CONFIGURATION button, so you can also manage advanced options such as opacity.

For the rest, I also recommend that you press on the BR Mode tab. In fact, from here you can also select the aiming mode, choosing between Simple and Advanced (with crosshairs). In short, there is no shortage of possibilities in terms of choice!

Search for the best settings

As with any self-respecting shooter, Call of Duty Mobile is a good idea to take a look at the options offered by the game.

In fact, in addition to the options related to graphic details, FPS and effects (accessible from the AUDIO AND GRAPHICS tab), which can always come in handy to get a “smoother” gaming experience, there are also various settings that can potentially allow you to improve your performance.

I recommend that you go into the game options and explore all of the tabs, from BASIC to BR SETTINGS. Here you’ll find a myriad of advanced settings, such as the ability to set up your aiming assist. You can even manage the control scheme for driving vehicles in Battle Royale mode.

Of course, it’s difficult for me to give you detailed information about the many options available, but the advice is to dig deeper and look for the one that best suits your playing style.

I know: you might consider this a bit “boring”, but if you want to get better at Call of Duty Mobile you might want to look into this.

Getting the right loot in Battle Royale

Capture 383

The Battle Royale mode of Call of Duty Mobile is clearly one of the most popular, given the success of this kind of title.

In this context, you should know that in games that have a maximum of 100 players, it is of paramount importance to collect the right loot. If you have already played some other Battle Royale title you already know why I say this: weapons and items here are found on the ground (or, for example, in crates).

In any case, in Call of Duty Mobile this advice is less trivial than it seems. In fact, unlike other titles of the genre, in this case you can get rare loot, which could come in very handy during the game, in “alternative ways”.

For example, in some periods it was possible to defeat the “bosses” to get drops, such as weapons, potentially very interesting. The advice is therefore to explore the map well and try to understand what methods are currently available to get the best possible loot.

Choosing and upgrading the right weapons

Capture1 14

Excuse me? Are you a more “classic” player and prefer to manage your equipment before the game rather than picking it up on the ground during a Battle Royale? Don’t worry: there is also this possibility.

Just open the game, tap on the MULTIPLAYER box on the right, and click on the EQUIPMENT item at the bottom. By doing so, you will access the screen where you can choose everything about your character.

As for the weapons, I recommend you to take a look at the possibilities offered by the game in terms of upgrading. In fact, many players, caught up in the “frenzy” of COD Mobile gameplay, underestimate this possibility, continuing to use their favorite weapons without upgrading them wisely through the PE cards obtained simply by playing.

I invite you, therefore, to try to select a weapon, press the POWER button and take a look at the PE cards available to you, on the right. If you’ve never done this before, there’s a good chance you have a number of these items at your disposal.

All you have to do is press the + button and then the USA button, and you’ll be able to use the XP cards to upgrade your weapon and obtain accessories that will come in handy in battle. You can also use the SELECT ALL button, if you want to try and max out your weapon (in case you have a lot of XP cards).

For the rest, I remind you that, to equip the accessories obtained in this way, all you need to do is select the weapon and press the Weapon button. By doing so, you will be able to choose, for example, Volley, Barrel, Optic, Kick, Specialty, Laser, Underbarrel, Ammo and Rear Grip. These will change the statistics of your weapon: potentially, you can improve it a lot this way.

I’ve only skimmed the surface of the changes the game allows you to make from these screens. Among other things, you can manage your equipment, for example, even in relation to the Battle Royale mode. In short, I suggest you take a look and deepen as it should these menus that I have indicated, as they may be very useful.

Pay attention to the map in Battle Royale

The Battle Royale mode often “rushes” the player. In fact, one of the “basic mechanics” of the genre is the zone that is “closed”.

Players must keep moving to get back into the “safe zone”, otherwise they will lose in no time. In this context, you must know how to move wisely. Obviously, it is always good to take a look at what is happening to the map, so as not to have bad surprises, but you must also be careful not to get “stuck” by this mechanic.

In fact, not a few people simply try to run as much as possible to get back into the “safe zone”, forgetting to collect the right loot and check the positions of enemies.

This approach usually results in a shot from the distance that defeats the player, since the user had not paid much attention to the enemies in the area, or in a final phase played not on equal terms. In fact, without having the right loot, it will be difficult to defeat the players at the end of the game, who are usually very skilled.

In short, you should try to find a balance with this game mechanic. For example, an interesting method used by some players is to try to stay inside the “safe” area always “at the limit”.

Let me explain: there are some users who try to explore as much as possible the areas, collecting the right loot, and then taking care to enter the “safe” area only in the last time available. In this way, you can potentially avoid most of the enemies and at the same time get potentially good weapons and items.

Clearly, you need to know the rhythm of COD Mobile well and be adept at implementing this style of gameplay, but I can assure you that once you master this method, satisfaction will probably not be long in coming.

Using the best scorestreaks and Operator skills

If you’re a longtime fan of the Call of Duty series and shooters in general, you’ll surely be familiar with the scorestreak system. Simply put, by getting a certain number of points without ever losing, you can get particularly powerful “rewards”.

Well, this mechanism is also available in some COD Mobile modes and potentially allows you to get a competitive advantage of no small importance. Just to give you a concrete example, one of my favorite scorestreaks is the one related to the guided Predator missile (which can potentially take out multiple enemies at once).

For the rest, to explain how the scorestreak system works on COD Mobile in a “classic” mode, you should know that you can potentially get, for example, a UAV after 400 points, a Hunter Drone (which searches for an enemy and can potentially take him out) after 500 points and a Predator Missile after 700 points. These are just examples of the “rewards” available.

As for the skill Operator, which is unlocked once you have loaded, with the passage of time, the bar in the upper right, one of my favorites is the flamethrower Purifier (able to incinerate in no time opponents). In short, these are definitely interesting possibilities, which we should at least take a look at.

In any case, to change the scorestreaks, just press the MULTIPLAYER button in the main screen of COD Mobile and select the POINTS SERIES option in the lower left corner, then choose the available rewards (paying attention to the ones you have already unlocked and the number of points required to obtain them).

As for the skill Operator, you just need to go to the EQUIPMENT tab and tap on the box on the right in the center. From here you can take a look at the available skills and choose the one you like best.

In short, scorestreaks and Operator skills can be very useful to improve in COD Mobile, considering the fact that players often underestimate these possibilities, as they find it “boring” to go through the various customization menus.

Learn from professional players

Another way to improve your performance on Call of Duty Mobile is definitely to take a look at the techniques implemented by the pro players of Activision’s title.

In fact, a good number of good players usually make content related to this popular game on the main streaming portals. I’m mainly referring to Twitch and YouTube, platforms that are very popular among gamers.

As for the first one, which I remember is owned by Amazon, the advice is to look for content through the page dedicated to Call of Duty Mobile. In fact, the latter is usually teeming with live streams and interesting content, from which you could potentially learn something. Among other things, I remind you that through this platform you can also interact with the chat, maybe finding some other fans willing to give you advice.

As for, instead, YouTube, the platform owned by Google offers myriad videos that allow you to learn techniques to improve within the title of Activision. My advice is to do searches like “improve on call of duty mobile” or “how to improve in call of duty mobile”. You’ll find a lot of content that might be right for you.

More tips to improve on COD Mobile

I beg your pardon? Would you like more tips to improve your COD Mobile gaming performance? No problem, I’ll give you some quick tips right now (you can find them below).

  • Play with your friends: It may seem like a trivial tip, but playing with someone you know can make you want to improve even more, if only to demonstrate your skills to others. In addition, you will definitely have more fun.
  • Don’t forget to redeem rewards: COD Mobile offers many free rewards to the player. These can potentially allow you to unlock various interesting items, which could help you improve when combined with your equipment choice.
  • Try out all modes: COD Mobile users often linger on playing their favorite mode, such as Battle Royale. This approach may not exactly be the best way to learn how to play the game properly, as trying out other modes can allow you to test your skills by stepping out of your comfort zone.
  • Choose the right class: in modes like Battle Royale, at the beginning of the game you’ll be able to choose which class you belong to (for example, Doctor). This choice will affect the “tools” available to you, so consider which class suits your style of play.

In short, now you know a little bit about everything you need to know about the tricks you need to take into account to improve in COD Mobile. All that’s left for you to do is to try and implement them in the Activision game. What you have read, of course, is only a “basic” guide to Activision’s title, then it will be up to you to go deeper. I wish you the best of luck for your next games!
